Details
Collected from Bracken Palomino, these seeds come from open-pollinated parents. We let the bees do their thing!
Approx. x12-17 seeds per packet.
When to plant?
We started our seeds in mid-August last season (indoors & under grow lights) before being potted up to spend a little time in a greenhouse before going through the hardening off stage - once the risk of frost had passed we then planted these out in the paddock.
Germination has ranged from 18 hours, to days to even a few weeks - each seed is different. We use the paper towel method for germination. You can find more TIPS on our Instagram highlights reels.
Just because seed has been collected from Bracken Palomino does not mean your seeds will look the same. Your seedlings may have traits of, may look similar or may be something completely different. It's a complete surprise!
DAHLIA CARE
Dahlias require little care within the first few weeks - until the first 3-4 sets of leaves appear which can be a good time to pinch and commence watering. Watering requirements will vary pending your location.
Overwatering can cause rot and loss of plant and potential tuber/s. Staking can aid in windy conditions and support the plant from weight of blooms, but isn’t essential.
Regular deadheading and harvesting of mature blooms is ideal to combat breakage, remembering to sanitise your cutting tools between each plant to avoid spread of disease/virus is also good practice.
Grow from seed
We germinated in mid-August last year using the paper towel method, seedlings then went into trays indoors under grow lights (no heat mats) before being potted up and moved into greenhouse for a few weeks whilst waiting for frost to pass. We ended up with blooms at the start of December. We have a more detailed explanation with photos on our Instagram page under the highlights ‘Dahlia tips’.

Shipping for seeds will be standard shipping and up to 7 business days.
Shipping for tubers will commence in September-October once all stock are showing eyes and good signs of viability.
