Dahlia ‘Winkie Whopper’ a giant gorgeous orange to apricot bloom. Considered a  dinner-plate. With blooms reaching a whopping 30cm approx. A must have! Bred by John Menzel (Winkie Prefix), Australia.

DAHLIA CARE

Dahlias require little care within the first few weeks - until the first 3-4 sets of leaves appear which can be a good time to pinch and commence watering. Watering requirements will vary pending your location.
Overwatering can cause rot and loss of plant and potential tuber/s. Staking can aid in windy conditions and support the plant from weight of blooms, but isn’t essential.
Regular deadheading and harvesting of mature blooms is ideal to combat breakage, remembering to sanitise your cutting tools between each plant to avoid spread of disease/virus is also good practice.

Grow from seed

We germinated in mid-August last year using the paper towel method, seedlings then went into trays indoors under grow lights (no heat mats) before being potted up and moved into greenhouse for a few weeks whilst waiting for frost to pass. We ended up with blooms at the start of December. We have a more detailed explanation with photos on our Instagram page under the highlights ‘Dahlia tips’.

Shipping

Shipping for seeds will be standard shipping unless otherwise requested and agreed.

Shipping for tubers will commence in October immediately after our sale and once all stock are showing eyes and good signs of viability. Most varieties are awake and ready to go!

Acknowledgement and acceptance of eGift Voucher Terms and Conditions - eGift Vouchers sales are final and cannot be exchanged (wholly or partly) for cash.- eGift Vouchers cannot be replaced nor honoured if they are damaged, lost, stolen or the subject of fraudulent presentation.- eGift Vouchers are not refundable for change of mind- It is your responsibility to check the delivery email address provided is correct. Gwyngana Dahlias cannot be held responsible if a eGift voucher is used by someone else or if the eGift voucher is lost, stolen or deleted.- When an E-Gift Voucher has been purchased on our website, it can take up to 1 hour for the voucher to be sent to the recipient. If there is a delay Gwyngana Dahlias cannot be held responsible. We cannot take responsibility if a eGift voucher cannot be delivered to the recipient’s email address because of spam filters, firewalls, or any other factors outside of our control.- eGift vouchers can be redeemed for merchandise and/or services only at Gwyngana Dahlias online store- eGift Vouchers  are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. The validity date cannot be extended.- Any unused eGift Voucher balance will not be refunded or credited upon expiry.- eGift Vouchers cannot be used to purchase further eGift Vouchers.- Afterpay and Promotional Coupon Codes cannot be used to purchase eGift vouchers.- If the value of your purchase is less than the value of the eGift voucher, any unused balance will remain on the eGift voucher and can be redeemed when you next make a purchase. The remaining balance cannot be redeemed for cash.- If your purchase exceeds the value of the eGift voucher, you can pay the remaining balance using another eGift voucher or a different payment method.- If you return, part return, or cancel an order where a eGift voucher was used as payment, the refund will be issued in the same way as the purchase was made. (For example, a $20 eGift voucher and $20 cash would be returned in the same way).- Should Gwyngana Dahlias  suspect any fraud relating to a eGift voucher, Gwyngana Dahlias can refuse to redeem the eGift Voucher until Gwyngana Dahlias is satisfied that no fraud has occurred.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

After our Tuber Sale in October we will be shipping all orders immediately from October through to November. Some varieties are awake and ready to go, whilst others are a little slower and we will not ship dormant tubers. If a variety in your order has not woken up or survived storage, you will be notified and refunded or a substitute may be possible but this will be at my discretion.

Once you have received your order, please unpack immediately and inspect for any damage or fault/issue. We check all tubers before posting, for eyes, strong necks and signs of rot. We package carefully and safely and hope the journey to their new home is a gentle one. But, in the case of a problem please contact us at hello@gwynganadahlias.com.au within 48 hours so we can help. After this time, no refund will be possible.

After you have unpacked, stored or planted your tubers, Gwyngana Dahlias will not be held accountable or take any responsibility for the tubers. It is up to you to know your climate, soil type and environment. Tubers should not be planted out until the last frost has passed. The general advice and recommended ideal planting time is the first weekend in November, but again, know your climate and assess carefully.

We do not offer refunds nor exchanges if you change your mind.

Postage will be from Australia Post and shipping rates will be automatically applied at checkout, dependant on your order size.

We would prefer to not combine shipping orders this time, given how late in the season it is and time it takes to do so. So please be mindful of your selections. As I cannot guarantee that combined shipping will be available or possible without an additional fee for our time.

Some of our varieties are new to Gwyngana, therefore they may not be available this year or limited in stock as we build our own numbers. A few of these may also be limited to 1 tuber per household/customer, we do this so more of you get to enjoy these in demand treasures!

Again, we are sorry to our TAS, WA & NT friends but we cannot ship to you at this stage, due to quarantine restrictions.
